Laura Freiría is a Senior Associate at the firm. Her legal practice focuses on Corporate and Banking Law. She provides consultancy services to local and multi-national companies in relation to highly complex banking and corporate operations.

Laura graduated from the School of Law and Social Sciences of the University of the Republic in 2009. In 2013 she earned a Master´s degree (LL.M) in International Business Law, from Queen Mary, University of London with merits and distinction in international commercial arbitration.

Her practice specializes in advising companies regarding compliance with applicable legislation, and administrative and regulatory issues relating to environmental law. She has vast experience in the corporate law area, advising clients on matters related to civil law and contracts in general and participating in the elaboration of due diligence reports and in mergers and acquisitions. She advices international financial entities regarding wind power and photovoltaic finance projects.

  • 2018 – Advised Softcargo Uruguay in the acquisition of its company by Wisetech Global Partners, an australian group.
  • 2018 – Advisor for Banco Santander S.A. (Uruguay), Banco Santander, S.A. (Spain) and CaixaBank, S.A. in the financing of Cerro Grande wind farm.
  • 2016 – Took part in the team in charge of the acquisition of “Tienda Inglesa”, the supermarket chain, representing Goldman Sachs and Klaff.
  • 2015 – Representing the Inter-American Bank (IDB) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), in the granting of a senior secured, long term Project financing for almost half a billion USD, for the onshore facilities of the GNL del Plata Floating Storage Regasification Terminal Project.
  • 2015 – Advising to Credit Agricole in a USD 84.4 million financing package for Cobra, to fund the construction, installation, commissioning and operation of a 49.2 MW wind farm in San Jose.
  • 2015 – Advising KfW and KFW IPEX in Project Finance for a wind farm of 141.6 MW.
  • 2015 – Advised International Banks (Santander, Intesa San Paolo and BBVA) in Project Finance of two 74MW solar energy photovoltaic power stations.
  • 2015 – Advisor for KfW IPEX and EKF in Project Finance transaction for multi million dollar financing of Florida 2 Wind Mill.
  • 2015 – Advisor for Santander in sale of wind farm projects portfolio to Canadian pension fund.
  • 2015 – Advised multi million dollar M&A of Retop S.A. by Banco Santander Uruguay.
  • 2015 – Advising Santander in a Project Finance for the construction of a photovoltaic energy plant.
