Nicolas has vast experience in providing consultancy services to local and multi-national companies in relation to highly complex financial, banking and corporate operations. He assists local and international financial entities on structured financing, project financing and transactions with derivatives, as well as on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and general corporate and trading matters.

Among his most outstanding participations in recent years, he led in 2016 the legal team that, on behalf of Goldman Sachs and Klaff Realty, acquired “Tienda Inglesa”, the supermarket chain of greater relevance and tradition in Uruguay. He provided legal advice to international banks (Santander, Intesa Sao Paolo y BBVA) for the largest financing seen financial close to date in the solar energy market; the equity trust legal & financial structuring for the construction of the “Torres Nuevo Centro” building complex. Moreover, he was also in charge of the legal team regarding the acquisition of Créditos de la Casa by Santander Bank, (Spain) and the local legal restructuring for the first-ever PPP investment in Uruguay.

In 2012 he played a key role as expert consultant for several financial institutions involved in the financing of approximately US$ 300 million for the construction of five wind farms. In 2011, he represented the Santander Bank (Spain) during the acquisition of Creditel, one of the leading consumer financial companies in Uruguay. In 2010, he assisted the selling party in the transaction relative to the sale of 50% of the stock shares of Retop (Créditos de la Casa). From 2007 to 2009 he was advisor of the PPG Wrightson Group regarding the acquisition of Agar Cross Uruguaya, Agrosan, Romualdo Rodríguez and Veterinaria Las Places. In 2007 also assisted on the sale of Pronto to the Advent Group. In 2008/2009, he played a key role in the legal advice during the merger of ABN AMRO Bank and Santander Bank, which successfully created the biggest private bank in Uruguay.

He has been consultant and member of the board of directors at different credit union companies and saving groups. He is currently a member of the National Credit Companies’ Association (“Asociación de Empresas Administradoras de Crédito”). He is part of the board of directors and Audit Committee of Creditel and Créditos de la Casa. Furthermore, member of the board of directors of Uruwood, a subsidiary of forestry company UPM Uruguay.
