Maria Noel Saldias is an associate with the firm. She specializes in Labor Law and her practice also includes Tax Law and Family Law. Graduated from the University of Uruguay School of Law in the year 2002 as Doctor in Law and Social Sciences, she obtained a Master Degree in Tax Law from the Universityof Montevideo School of Law in the year 2010.
Ms. Saldias has ample experience in providing advice to local and multinational companies in tax and labor matters. In the recent past she obtained favorable rulings on behalf of ABN AMRO Bank and Banco Santander on breach of contract claims filed by customers of the banks, and she obtained favorable rulings both from the Administrative Court and the Tax Administration on cases that involvedreimbursement of taxes on behalf of Kraft. She is also currently representing an investment group that is challenging before the Administrative Court a decision from the Institute of Colonization that seized land purchased by the group.
She co-authored the articles,“Strengthening the Financial System” and“Powers of the Administration: The Thin Line between Efficiency of Service and Excess of Prerrogatives”, which were published in the journal El Observador in the years 2008 and 2009, respectively.
She is proficient in Spanish and English.
