Mariela Ruanova is an associate with the firm. She specializes in litigation practice, Banking Law and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Graduated from the University of Montevideo, School of Law in the year 2005 as Doctor in Law and Social Sciences, she is an assistant professor in Civil Procedure in the University of Uruguay, School of Law since 2009.
She has ample experience providing advice to local and multinational companies in complex litigation and transactions. As for litigation, she is involved in the defense to class actions filed by distressed creditors of Banco Montevideo against ABN AMRO Bank and ING Bank.  As for transactional practice, she participated in the acquisition of ABN AMRO Bank by Banco Santander and in the Uruguayan chapter of the worldwide acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft.

She is the author of the article, “Exclusive Jurisdiction” that was part of the XIII National Conference of Procedural Law celebrated in 2006. She also co-authored the article, “Strengthening the Financial System” which was published in the year 2008 in the journal El Observador.

She is proficient in Spanish and English.
