Virginia Brause is partner with the firm. Her practice is centered in Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Banking Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Securities Law and Litigation.

Graduated from the University of Uruguay, School of Law as Doctor in Law and Social Sciences in 1996, she obtained a Master in Business Law of the University of Montevideo in 1999.  She was assistant professor in Commercial Papers at the University of Montevideo between the years 2000 and 2001 and she participated in the edition of the Commercial Law Yearbook Nº 9 in the year 2001. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Endeavor Uruguay since the year 2008 and of the Board of Directors of Nidera S.A. since 2011. She is also a member of the board of directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities Association.

She has a broad experience in providing advice to national and multinational companies in various aspects of Business Law. Her recent experience includes transactional practice, such as her participation in the sale of McDonald’s franchises to Arcos Dorados in 2007, the acquisition of ABN AMRO Bank by Banco Santander in 2008, and the acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft in 2010. Her litigation practice includes participation in the defense to the class action filed by distressed creditors of Banco Montevideo against ABN AMRO Bank and ING Bank, and in the defense to the class action filed by distressed creditors of Banco Comercial against the Uruguayan Central Bank. 

She published the article “Insider Trading in Uruguayan Commercial Law” in the Commercial Law Yearbook Nº 9 in 2001. She also published several legal articles in local newspapers, such as "Alternatives to Acquire a Company" or "Legal Startup of a Company". She collaborated with the 2011 Edition of the World Bank's Doing Business Guide.

She is proficient in English and Spanish languages and fluent in Portuguese.
