A long tradition
Prof. Dr. Eduardo Jiménez de Aréchaga
Professor Eduardo Jiménez de Aréchaga founded Jiménez de Aréchaga Law Firm in 1942. He was the successor of an exceptional lineage of three generations of jurists, also tenured professors of International Public Law at the School of Law, University of the Republic of Uruguay.
Specializing in International Public Law, Professor Eduardo Jiménez de Aréchaga was selected through public examination to be Chair of this subject in the School of Law. He was a member of the UN International Law Commission (Geneva, 1961-1969), judge and president of the International Court of Justice in The Hague (1970-1979) and president of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal (1981-1987); he also served as member to several international arbitration tribunals.
Esc. Héctor A. Viana
Graduated from the School of Law, University of the Republic of Uruguay, in 1933, Héctor A. Viana founded his notary’s office and specialized in Family Law.
In 1960, with the incorporation of Héctor Viana Martorell, Attorney-at-Law, the firm enlarged its scope to include judicial works. It achieved renowned prestige in civil litigation as it won major court rulings that generated changes in current positive law.
The consolidation of a team of work that has earned the clients’ respect and trust explains the success of our firm.

We participate in social projects such as Teleton Foundation (for children´s rehabilitation and physical therapy processes), the Ronald McDonald House Association of Uruguay (non-profit organization focused on promoting philanthropic, educational and scientific work in order to help Uruguayan children and their families), La Magdalena (non-profit organization located in the northern part of Uruguay, dedicated to foster learning and religious education of rural families, and the support of their health and social conditions, to facilitate their permanent residence in the countryside).

Construction of Ronald House at the Pereira Rossell Hospital
This “home away from home” commenced its activities in October, 2013. It is the result of the joint efforts of the Pereira Rossell Hospital, the Foundation “Friends of the Pereira Rossell”, the Ronald McDonald Association and the contribution of thousands of Uruguayans who have participated in the Happy Mc Day.

It is a non-profit social organization that has been working in the Department of Artigas (north of Uruguay) since 1987. It was created on the initiative of French citizens, who after many years of knowing and working in our rural area, decided to create this organization.
La Magdalena has a very active presence in the countryside of the department, covering areas such as: Educational, Health, Social and Religious.
